QUEBRADA SECA VINEYARD
LIMARÍ VALLEY
Located 400 kilometres north of Santiago and just 23 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, the Quebrada Seca vineyard in the Limarí Valley is profoundly shaped by the sea. This proximity, combined with unique climatic and soil conditions and some of the highest levels of luminosity in the world, gives rise to a truly exceptional place.
The cooling influence of the Pacific, expressed through the camanchaca, the coastal fog characteristic of the valley, moderates temperatures and promotes a slow, balanced ripening process. These extreme conditions help preserve the wines’ natural freshness while defining their distinctive character.
The result is a collection of wines with a singular identity, marked by vibrant freshness, profound minerality, and natural elegance, expressing with remarkable clarity the extreme origin of the Quebrada Seca vineyard.
Soil Series
Quebrada Seca Vineyard
Quebrada Seca
Of colluvial origin, these soils are characterised by the absence of angular stones and a high content of red clay rich in oxidised iron and calcium carbonate. Their rocky nature, together with veins of calcium carbonate running throughout the soil profile, contributes minerality and distinctive character.
Deep and clay rich, they retain water effectively, providing structure, volume, and salinity to the wines while supporting balanced vine growth and a slow, gradual ripening of the fruit.
Santa Cristina
This stony soil of colluvial origin contains a significant proportion of red clay rich in iron and is characterised by the absence of calcium carbonate in the upper 45 cm, promoting greater vine vigour. At deeper levels, a layer of gravel, sand, and non volcanic material bound by calcium carbonate shapes the soil profile.
The abundance of clay enhances fertility and nutrient uptake, creating particularly favourable conditions for Pinot Noir. The result is fruit with greater colour intensity, aromatic complexity, and structure, contributing to wines of depth and character.
